Tinder vs SMEFSW
OK, so I had to check it out. Heard a lot about it and had to see if it lived up to the hype. Well, color me so surprised when it didn’t. All you do is swipe left or right on a photo. I had an age range specified, but kept getting men over 10 years outside of that range. The other thing I didn’t like was that these photos weren’t always of the guys. Some were of their pets, or their hands, or even their shadows. So I’m supposed to swipe right on a shadow? Many of the guys didn’t even have one word in their “about me”. Seriously? I’m supposed to swipe right on a photo of some guy and not even know one thing about him?
I don’t think so. And they aren’t free. Their gold membership is quite expensive. I ended up uninstalling the app from my phone. So what are the advantages of joining this site?
- you don’t have to provide your phone number or a secure log in. No personal info is stored here. All you have to do is provide some basic info to be matched with other like minded people. That is certainly not an option on Tinder.
- There is a matching app here. Those questions you answer when joining help match you up with other people you have things in common with. So you not only can go by their picture, you can also go by their matching score.
- This site is free to join and meet other people. There isn’t some hidden level that you have to pay to meet people you’re interested in. If you pay for the premium subscription, you save on the meet & greets and you have access to a private area for people who want something more than just finding someone to hang out with. More on that later, but it has nothing to do with finding “better” matches.
- Speaking of meet & greets, Tinder doesn’t have those. You take your life in your own hands if you decide to meet one of those guys. Here, you can meet them first in a public location surrounded by other people just like you. As soon as at least 10 people join, the first meet & greet will be scheduled.
So please join my site. It won’t cost you anything. I won’t do anything with your information. The site might not be “secure” by Google’s standards, but you won’t be entering any of your private data here. If you do choose to upgrade to premium, you will be going through Paypal’s secure site, so all confidential info will always be protected. And if this site ever takes off, I will switch over to a host with SSL. I just don’t want to invest the money until I know it’s worth it.
So give SMEFSW a try. You’ve got nothing to lose.
